Roadmap-Stream

The journey from idea to the industry-ready product is often a long one. Therefore, we have two development approaches: On the one hand, we optimize existing, well-established products already on the market; on the other hand, we develop completely new prod-ucts to realize future market potentials. Both approaches have very different challenges. The basis, however, of both approaches is to always performing a detailed material and product analysis so that we can make the right decisions together with our clients.

Our concept shoe: this new product development enables a “closed-loop” business model and provides growth potential for the entire plastics industry.

Our approach

We take a product-oriented approach to ensure that we meet busi-ness expectations and achieve the desired benefits. This includes the definition of products through product descriptions and the set-ting of quality, performance and sustainability criteria. We take into account the product optimization and the product redesign challenges as we carry out individual research and perform the development phases. We also consider the market condition of the application conditions of the application.

For us, the laboratory, pilot, and industrialization phases form a coherent, integrated process. We anticipate the needs and chal-lenges of each downstream phase. In practice, this means we have already taken into account the characteristics of an industry-ready product at the laboratory phase to minimize development risk.

In der Laborphase kann die Machbarkeit von Ansätzen im kleinen Maßstab untersucht werden. Hier werden die Voraussetzungen für die weitere Zusammenarbeit und der Grundstein für den Erfolg des Projektes gelegt. Mit der Ausrichtung auf das umgesetzte Produkt verfolgen wir verwertbare Ergebnisse und haben stets die Anforderungen an die Materialentwicklung im Blick. Die Versuchsreihen im Labor sind in eine umfassende Fachthemenrecherche eingebettet, damit sie direkt auf die Anwendung zielen und den neuesten Stand der Entwicklungen berücksichtigen.

PILOTPHASE

Entwicklung bis zur Industriereife

In der Pilotphase findet die technische Weiterentwicklung statt: Wir prüfen die Funktionalität des Materials und die Leistungsfähigkeit des zukünftigen Produktionsprozesses unter industrienahen Bedingungen. Wertvolle Erkenntnisse über Verarbeitung und Umgang mit den Materialien werden in diesem Abschnitt verifiziert, festgelegt und dokumentiert.

INDUSTRIA­LISIERUNG

Marktreife erzielen

Wir betrachten die Produktentwicklung unter Industriebedingungen und durchlaufen alle notwenigen Schritte bis zur Markreife. In der Industrialisierung werden die für Herstellung, Distribution, Wartung und Wiederverwertung relevanten Fragestellungen erörtert. Dazu gehören u.a. globale Verfügbarkeiten von Rohstoffen und Produktionskapazitäten, Lieferketten, Verordnungen und Richtlinien, die Abnahme und Registrierung von Rohstoffen und Produkten. Die Massenproduktion von umweltoptimierten Produkten muss in dieser letzten Phase sichergestellt werden. Nach einer erfolgreichen Durchführung folgt die Markteinführung.

Laboratory phase

Concept feasibility

The feasibility of development approaches on a small scale can be examined in the laboratory phase. Here, the conditions for further collaboration are established, and the foundations are laid for the success of the project. We only pursue the most promising results, always keeping in mind material development demands and focus-ing on an industry-scale product. The series of experiments in the laboratory are based foundationally on comprehensive subject re-search. They directly target the application and take the latest rele-vant research developments into account.

Pilot phase

Industry maturity

Technical development takes place during the pilot phase: We test material functionality and the potential of the future production process under industrial conditions. The knowledge we have gained about the processing and handling of the materials is verified, defined, and documented in this section.

Industrialization

Market readiness

After taking the necessary steps to make the product ready for the market, we look at product development under industry conditions. In industrial terms, we examine relevant variables such as production, distribution, maintenance, and recycling. These include, for example, the global availability of raw materials, production capacity, supply chains, regulations and guidelines, and the legal registration of new materials. The mass production of environmentally optimized products must be secured in this final development stage. A successful implementation follows the product’s launch on the market.
